simple home yoga personal guidance for your home yoga practice

breath

Breath is at the heart of the way that I teach and practice yoga. Some find this easier than others, and it might take a while to settle in to. But when you feel ready, bringing more focus to how you are breathing can add a wonderful depth and steadiness to your practice.

Ujjayi breath introduction and video to add depth to your yoga practice

Introduction to Ujjayi or 'hissing' breath

When you feel ready to bring more focus to your breath, then I would highly recommend practicing the 'ujjayi breathing'.

By introducing a very gentle 'throat control' to our breathing, and making a soft, gentle hissing sound, we can slow down the breath and the movements of our practice.

This supports the length and spaciousness of our breath, provides a calming and revitalising quality to our practice and brings a new depth to our focus (once we have got the hang of it).

Like all techniques it can take some getting used to and might feel unusual at first. I've put together a video to help guide you. Let me know how you get on.
If you would like more input into your home yoga practice please consider booking in a private review with me either online via zoom or in person in Bristol.
